Calling about a listing, asking about the rent, the deposit and the bills, reporting a broken boiler — the phrases that get you a flat without freezing up mid-conversation.

- Да ли је стан још увек слободан? · Da li je stan još uvek slobodan?Is the flat still available?Stan = a flat, not a camp or a stand.
- Колико је кирија месечно? · Koliko je kirija mesečno?How much is the rent per month?Kirija = the rent for housing. Mesečno = monthly.
- Да ли су рачуни урачунати у цену? · Da li su računi uračunati u cenu?Are the bills included in the price?Računi here = utility bills; in a kafana a račun is the bill.
- Колико износи депозит? · Koliko iznosi depozit?How much is the deposit?Usually one or two months' rent. Iznosi = amounts to.
- Да ли је стан намештен? · Da li je stan namešten?Is the flat furnished?Namešten = furnished; nameštaj = furniture.
- Да ли може кућни љубимац? · Da li može kućni ljubimac?Are pets allowed?Ljubimac = a pet, from ljubiti — to love.
- Какво је грејање, на струју или на гас? · Kakvo je grejanje, na struju ili na gas?What kind of heating is it — electric or gas?Struja = electricity; nema struje = the power is out.
- Када могу да дођем да погледам стан? · Kada mogu da dođem da pogledam stan?When can I come and see the flat?Da dođem da pogledam — Serbian uses da plus the present instead of an infinitive.
- Бојлер не ради, нема топле воде. · Bojler ne radi, nema tople vode.The boiler isn't working, there's no hot water.Ne radi = isn't working, of appliances and offices alike.
- Можете ли да пошаљете мајстора? · Možete li da pošaljete majstora?Could you send a repairman?Majstor = a repairman; majstora is the animate object form.
- Шта тачно улази у рачуне? · Šta tačno ulazi u račune?What exactly do the bills cover?Tačno = exactly. Ulazi u = is included in.
- Може ли мало да се спусти цена? · Može li malo da se spusti cena?Could you lower the price a little?For a long let, haggling is fair. Spustiti cenu = to lower the price.
- Када истиче уговор? · Kada ističe ugovor?When does the contract expire?Ugovor = contract; ističe = expires.
